STAKHANOV ALEXEY GRIGORYEVICH (1906-77), worker, initiator of a grass-roots movement of innovators of production, Hero of Socialist Work (1970). Memory of Stakhanov is immortalized in names of settlements, industrial facilities, streets, motor ships, schools. In honor of Stakhanov in Karaganda the mine (former "Vertical") is called in which territory Stakhanov's bust is established. For the best mining collectives of the country the annual prize of a name of Stakhanov is founded.
