SATPAEV KANYSH IMANTAYEVICH

SATPAEV KANYSH IMANTAYEVICH (1899-1964), geologist, scientist, public figure. I graduated from Tomsk institute of technology (1926). Doctor of geological-mineralogical sciences, professor, academician of Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1946), academician of AN of Kazakhstan (1946). After the termination of Semipalatinsk teacher's seminary in 1918-19 I worked as the teacher of natural sciences of pedagogical courses; in 1920-21 national judge of a site of the Bayanaul area. In 1926-29 I worked as the head of geological department of Atbastsvetmet trust.

In 1929-41 chief, chief geologist of prospecting department of Karsakpay copper-smelting combine, 1941-64 director of Institute of geological sciences of AN of Kazakhstan.

In 1941-46 vice-chairman, chairman of presidium of the Kazakh branch of Academy of Sciences of the USSR; 1946-51 president of AN of Kazakhstan.

In 1955-64 deputy of the Supreme Council of KAZSSR of the 2-4th convocations. Deputy of the Supreme Council of the USSR of the 2-6th convocations. Vice-chairman of Council of the Union of the Supreme Council of the USSR (1962-64). It is awarded by Lenin's awards (four times), Patriotic war of the 2nd degree, medals, the winner of the Lenin award, the winner of the State award USSR, the honored worker of science of KAZSSR. The main works are devoted to geology of ore fields and mineral resources of Kazakhstan, development of the principles of drawing up expected mineral resources maps. K.Satpayev — the founder of domestic metallurgical science and the founder of the Kazakhstan school metalgeniuses. K.Satpayev opened the Dzhezdin field of manganese and iron ore in the Central Kazakhstan.
