MARGULAN ALKEY HAKANOVICH

MARGULAN ALKEY HAKANOVICH (1904-1985), scientist, founder of the Kazakhstan archaeological school. Member of All-Union geographical society (1933), Doctor of Philology (1946), corresponding member of AN KAZSSR (1946), academician (1958), professor (1960). Honored worker of science of KAZSSR (1961). I graduated from Oriental studies institute in Leningrad (1934). In 1926-30 as a part of the Kazakhstan expedition of Academy of Sciences of the USSR I investigated a life, art, customs and traditions of the Kazakh people. In 1930 the scientist of committee of the New alphabet at the National commissariat of formation of KAZSSR. In 1931-46 the graduate student of the state academy of history of material culture (SAHMC), taught at oriental studies institute, the scientist of institute of history of material culture of Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Since 1946 the senior research associate of AN KAZSSR (The Kazakh branch of Academy of Sciences of the USSR), the manager of sector, department at institute of history, archeology, ethnography. I conducted the first archeological excavations of the ancient cities lengthways рр. Syr-Darya, Talas, Shue, researcher of culture of Taraz, Otyrar, Sayram, Sauran, Syganak, Begazy-Dandybay. Under the leadership of A.Kh.Margulan the elite произв is published. (1958) and 5-volume collection of works (1961-72) of Sh. Valikhanov. Winner of the State award of KAZSSR (1982) and awards AN KAZSSR of Sh. Valikhanov (1967). It is awarded by Lenin's awards.
